Cosmetic Surgery Procedures

Breasts

Breast Enlargement is one of the most popular forms of cosmetic surgery available today. It is a surgical procedure in which a silicone or saline gel implant is placed behind the natural breast tissue to increase the size of the breast. There are a number of different techniques which surgeons can employ and there are a number of alternative implant types that can be used.

A Breast Lift, which is more technically known as a mastopexy, is a cosmetic surgery designed for women whose breasts have lost shape due to reasons such as pregnancy and extreme weight fluctuation. The procedure involves removing any excess skin and fat from the breast area, repositioning the nipple and lifting the breast.

Breast Reductions are for women who experience physical and emotional discomfort from having overly large breasts. Overly large breasts can cause women severe back and breast pain whilst also affecting the clothes they buy as well as their overall confidence. The procedure involves surgically removing excess fat, skin and tissue from the breasts, the repositioning of the nipples and the uplifting of the breasts.

Body

Liposuction is a hugely popular form of cosmetic surgery which involves the surgical removal of fat fatty tissue from the abdomen to reshape the body and assist in fat loss from hard to budge places. The surgery involves inserting a cannula, which is a small hollow tube, to extract the fat.

Liposculpture is an advanced form of liposuction. It is basically a more precise and thus a more efficient method to remove fat. It involves the injection of an anaesthetic and blood staunching solution which weakens the fat cells. Weakening the fat cells means the fat is more easily removed, meaning patients are left with less scarring and a quicker recovery time.

A Tummy Tuck or abdominoplasty is a surgical procedure which aims at tightening the muscles and removing excess skin from the abdomen. After pregnancy or substantial weight loss, many people find their abdominal muscles are weak and the skin in that area has become looser. This loose skin can sometimes be impossible to remove through diet and exercise. Tummy Tucks are generally performed simultaneously with other procedures such as liposuction.

An Arm Lift is a surgical procedure which involves removing fatty tissue and excess skin from the underside of the upper arm. Age and weight loss can sometimes lead to sagging under the arms. An arm lift is perfect for those looking to remove this.

Thigh Lifts are becoming increasing popular. The procedure involves making anĀ incision around the groin area and pulling the excess skin upwards before being removed. The operation is quite extensive and patients are required to stay overnight afterwards.

Face

A Facelift, also known as a rhytidectomy, is one of the most popular forms of cosmetic surgery around. It involves restoring the face to its former glory. The skin is firstly separated from the underlying tissues and the excess fat is removed and the muscles and surrounding tissues in your face are tightened. Finally the surgeon lifts the skin and pulls it back before trimming any excess skin that remains. Facelifts can lift your whole face (a full facelift) or just your brow area, lower face, or neck.

A Brow Lift is similar to a facelift expect is is specifically aimed at the forehead and the eyebrows. A brow lift will raise the brows which will in turn lift the eyelids and re-open the area around the eyes. Patients can choose between an open bro lift or an endoscopic brow lift.

Rhinoplasty, which is more commonly known as a nose job, is a surgical procedure that seeks to alter the shape and size of the nose. Patients choose to have rhinoplasty in order to change the length, shape and size of the nostrils as well as removing unsightly bumps and reducing bulbous tips. As the operation is internal, patients are left with no visible scars.

Eyelid surgery, also known as blepharoplasty, is a surgical procedure to remove fat, usually along with excess skin and muscle, from the upper and lower eyelids. It can lift drooping upper lids and reduce the puffy eye bags that form below your eyes.

Ear Pinning, technically referred to as otoplasty, is a procedure which aims at reshaping the ears or pinning the ears closer to the head to counteract protruding ears. It can also be used to reduce the size of large ears. The procedure involves removing skin and reshaping the cartilage from behind the ears.

Chin Augmentation is the insertion of chin implants to alter the size and shape of the chin. The procedure begins with the surgeon making an incision from inside the mouth or below the chin. Then the implant is correctly positioned beneath the skin through the incision hole. The procedure ends with the suturing of the incision with dissolvable sutures. Conversely, patients with overly large chins can opt to have a chin reduction.

A Neck Lift, also known as platysmaplasty, is designed to reduce the loose look of sagging skin in the neck area and under the jaw line. The procedure is commonly performed in conjunction with a face lift. It is similar to a facelift in that skin is separated from the underlying tissues before being tightened and pulled back over the neck before any excess skin is removed.

Surgical Procedures for Men

More and more men are looking to cosmetic surgery to roll back the years and improve their overall physical appearance. Rhinoplasty surgery and breast reductions are the two most common forms of cosmetic surgery for men. While any form of cosmetic can theoretically be performed on a man, there are a few which a specific to men.

Abdominal Shaping is a surgical procedure which aims to remove excess fat from the abdomen as well as enhancing the visibility of the abdomen muscles. The procedure follows along the lines of liposuction with the removal of fat through a cannula. The procedure usually combines a tummy tuck as well in order to remove any excess skin that may be left behind.

Male Breast Reduction is the procedure to tackle a condition called Gynaecomastia. This is when there is an abnormal increase in glandular tissue in the male breast area and is a fairly common health problem that can cause men embarrassment and discomfort. The procedure involves removing the unwanted fat and tissues from the chest area to give men a flatter chest.

Pectoral Enhancement or Pectoral Augmentation Surgery is a surgical procedure for men which involves the insertion of implants to increase the size of the chest region. The operation is very similar to that of a breast enlargement surgery for women in that the implants are inserted under the chest tissue.
